MIchael Covington's suicide article is brilliant
My good friends and colleagues at Clarksville Online have recently had a great string of articles that have mass appeal. But one in particular stands out. Michael Covington, whom I list as one of my closest friends, has posted one of the most important articles ever in CO's history.
His article, "Picking up the pieces after suicide," reflects on the tragedy of suicide and details his own story in mourning one of his best friends who killed himself a few months back. He also lists several resources to help understand suicide better, as well as a few help lines.
The point of this is that no matter what anyone deals with, we're not alone. When someone considers suicide, they are in a point where they feel like they are completely alone, which only adds to the despair that eventually leads to an actual attempt.
Michael's article is critical, poignant, and real. If you have a chance to read it, please do.
The one source he doesn't list (and I certainly don't fault him at all) is the Trevor Project, a website and helpline for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.
Thanks as always for stopping by!
